WFMD - The Sematic Web

The Semantic Web is the idea that information can describe itself more to you by using structures such as metadata. This gives us less of the mess that unstructured information causes.

Just imagine if something common as invitations where marked as being invitations so that you could find them wherever they might be on your hard drive, mail- or Internet-servers no matter title or format. Project-, protocol-, agreement-, product- or errand-documents could also be structured without extra work and lots of work timesavings from not having to search for that lost document.

The approach is to add structured data to information intended for people, so that overview and searching can deliver more knowledge and agents have their instructions. This is often more efficient than creating a new XML-schema, since we are more free to add keys as we learn to use them. We use the generic document as the structured platform to build the information-sharing infrastructure instead of specific databases or applications.
